Shelby City Schools Families,
–
I am honored to be the new superintendent of Shelby City Schools. Throughout the coming months, I look forward to getting to know more about what makes the district so special and building relationships with students, teachers and staff, families, and community members.

My family is also excited about moving to Shelby and immersing ourselves in the community. Speaking of my family, my wife, Lauren, and I have two children, Maya and Harper. We have already made multiple trips to Shelby to attend meetings, find a home, and for my wife to stop by her favorite place in the city – the Marvin Memorial Library. Regardless of the reason for our visit, the people of Shelby have been tremendously gracious, thoughtful, and welcoming.

A little about me … I graduated from The Ohio State University in 2001 with a degree in History. I started substitute teaching later that year and decided I wanted to make education my career. In 2002 I began a master’s degree program in Secondary Education at the University of Phoenix and graduated in 2004. I taught one year as an Intervention Specialist for fourth grade and moved to the high school the following fall where I taught Social Studies for five years. Then I moved to eighth-grade History and was there for six and a half years. During my middle school teaching years, I started another master’s degree program, this time in school administration, from Ohio University and graduated in 2014. In January 2016, I received my first administrative position at London High School as the assistant principal. After two and a half years, I was elevated to principal and held that position for five years before finishing my superintendent’s license and now here I am!

As superintendent, my goal is to continue to move Shelby City Schools forward. The district has a beautiful campus, excellent facilities, and from meeting staff at the end of last school year, a group of teachers and support staff who truly care about students. All of this will be beneficial in continuing to grow as a school district and a community. I am excited about this opportunity and am happy to say, it is a great day to be a Whippet.
