Printer Only Feeds From Bypass Tray

If a printer will only feed from its bypass tray and appears to be ignoring paper present in a normal tray, double-check that the type of paper you’re attempting to use for the job is the same as in the normal tray (usually standard 8.5/11″ letter paper). Then, check the tray itself; the tray may have a physical indicator on the front that indicates a type of paper. This indicator is operated by turning a knob. If the indicator says anything other than the type of paper that’s in the tray, turn it until it’s showing the correct type of paper and reseat the tray. The knob being mis-set can wrongly indicate to the printer what type of paper is in the tray, thus causing it to request paper be fed in through the bypass.
